The Ill Girl - String Frame

A revival of the Victorian folk craft of string frame making. I taught myself the process of wrapping string that creates a geometric pattern to house a piece of art (traditionally was typically a photo).

The ill girl is open to interpretation - perhaps the flame leaving her is her spirit or an essence she lost being poorly. The charm hanging is also of a little flame.

This piece was entirely handcrafted. Measures 4.5” X 4.5”.
